Gangtok in January 1st Week: 3 Things No One Told You BUT Must Have

1. First of all, you want to play in snow & want to go to Changu lake or Nathula pass, this is not a good time to go. You may not be able to go anywhere near to it due to excessive snowfall. This happened with us. Although you could enjoy great views of clouds floating over the mountain peaks from your hotel window.

2. MG road is closed on Saturdays. Also, on the other days the shops starts shutting down 8:30 PM so plan your shopping day & time accordingly. MG road has some really great winterwear to sell at a surprisingly reasonable rate so it’s worth exploring.

3. Keep an umbrella handy as the chances of rain are high. Since it must be snowing heavily in the nearby areas, you got to give something to Gangtok, don’t you? 😬

We didn’t know these things when we planned our trip. If we did, we would have planned it in a better way. That’s why, we felt the need to share these with you.

Otherwise, there were a lot of great experiences we had in Gangtok. We’ll be sharing them in our upcoming blogs, so stay tuned.
